Cliffs now turns his lens on the stars of nature, wildlife and culture of Bulgaria and news editorial in the Uk. Cliff career spans over 30 years as a news, feature photographer with many front page pictures world wide. A land time has forgot Bulgaria with the long hot Summer days and the cold winter landscape, morning frost in the Spring and goldern leafs of the Autunm with its slower pace of life is a photographers dream. Myself and my wife have been visiting Bulgaria for some years now during this time rebuilding a Bulgarian cottage (named Poachers cottage after the family regiment, Grandfather, father and now two sons) at the edge of a rural village. Patience is the only way to get the shots you want, wildlife, culture & landsapes you photograph do not always perform how you would like them to do so you have to work around their time. As a child one of the TV programs we wached on a winters night was Goodlife and the Darling Buds Of May myself and my wife Andrea now live that style of life in a county where it is possable for us to leave only your footprint on wildlife and nature. Please enjoy my photography if their is any-think you would like to known please feel free to contact me. If you would like to take a peep at my blog visit me at My Blog. Cliff runs photography holidays for the beginner to advanced photography looking to photograph something new join Cliff on one of his tours in Bulgaria you never known you may even learn some new tricks as well as enjoy good food, good wine, good landscapes and wonderfull local people. Squacco Heron

Squacco Heron

Traveling to the Vaya lake Bourgas at the end of August to photograph the Pelicans which for the this day was not to be, the flock of Pelicans turn out to be camera shy staying in the middle of the lake . So after traveling around to the photo points with no luck we headed off for a spot on lunch at a local cafe bar in Bourgas. Afternoon turned out to be the better part of the day with some lovely shots of the Squacco Heron tn the reeds looking for fish, and the inflight against a nice blue sky.
The Squacco heron breeds in small colonies at shallow marshy ponds and lakes with reeds, bushes and lines of trees. Outside breeding season the bird is mostly solitary spends his winters in Africa feeding on small fish and amphibians.
